Make a difference this Thanksgiving
Yoga is best practiced on an empty stomach. So, before you
feast, join me in this special yoga class from 9:00 – 10:15 on Thanksgiving Day. This special donation only class has a
suggested minimum donation of $15.
This is our annual benefit class. Last year' beneficiary was the International Rescue Committee (IRC). The International
Rescue Committee responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. Previous beneficiaries include World Hunger Year a leader in the
fight against hunger and poverty in the United States and around the world; NRDC, whose purpose is to safeguard the Earth; the American Red Cross for their assistance during the fierce wildfires that ravaged our city; DATA who focus their attention in relieving debt, AIDS and improving trade for
Africa; and we raised money to benefit the earthquake victims in Pakistan and India through the IRC.
This year we are raising money again for the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC). NRDC's mission is to safeguard the Earth: its people, its
plants and animals and the natural systems on which all life depends. It is the
nation's most effective environmental action group, combining the grassroots power of 1.3 million members and online activists with the courtroom clout
and expertise of more than 350 lawyers, scientists and other professionals. [NRDC website]
The New York Times calls NRDC "One of the nation's most powerful
environmental groups." The National Journal says they're "A credible and forceful advocate for stringent environmental protection."
In the true spirit of Thanksgiving let's be grateful for the bounty and beauty of
our precious planet – from the oceans to the land to the very air we breathe – and join together to help preserve them for future generations.
